FORMER STATE HOUSE OFFICIAL DIES

Lawrence Lenayapa Kiptanui , the Former State House Comptroller and Ambassador of Kenya to the Kingdom of Netherlands, has passed away on Thursday, February 28.Abraham Kiptanui, the long-serving Comptroller of State House in President Daniel Moi’s tenure, is dead. Kiptanui passed away at the Nairobi Hospital early Sunday morning. He had been admitted at the hospital for several weeks.He served in the powerful position at State House until his retirement in 1996. Ambassador Ukur Yatani,Announcing the news, “My condolences to the family of Amb Lawrence Lenayapa following his passing on this morning. May Almighty God rest his soul in eternal peace and give solace to the family.” The details of the cause of death are yet to be made public. New Loan Feature Introduced by Safaricom

 Safaricom in partnership with the Gulf African Bank has launched  Halal Pesa, a Shari’ah-compliant mobile financing solution,   This makes the product the first Shariah-compliant mobile and digital financial solution in Kenya. According to a statement from Safaricom, customers accessing financing through the service will receive the amount requested in full with a repayment period of 30 days at a 5% commodity Murabaha margin. On the whole, Halal Pesa seeks to empower M-PESA customers who have previously been locked out of access to financing due to barriers such as lack of Shariah modelled mobile facilities. All M-PESA customers can access Halal Pesa as a Mini App under the “Grow” option on the M-PESA Super App and by dialling *334# under “Loans and Savings”. New Facebook Rules For Kenyans Ahead of August Elections

 Facebook has announced new rules majorly targeting advertisers in the country ahead of the August elections. The new rules come with tools and resources that provide more information about political advertising on Facebook and Instagram months before Kenyans go to the ballot. According to the new rules, advertisers seeking to run various political ads will have to undergo a verification process to prove their identity including their location. Before allowing them to run, Meta will run additional checks to confirm  if the ads comply with their set  policies. "Political advertisers in Kenya will also be labelled with a “Paid for by” disclaimer to show who’s behind the advert," Meta stated.
